Gardens
The Magic City Line mini train area is a place of community gathering and family entertainment. As with the building of the train areas, our gardens were built by volunteers, often working with donated and shared materials. The garden areas are managed by a Master Gardener, and worked by volunteers. There are many planting areas along the train ride, from traditional flower beds, to naturalized woods, to nursery beds for trees. Our largest display is the maze bed, located just over the tunnel bridge to the West of the station.
The beds are planted with a variety of zone-friendly perennials, plus a few tropicals and annuals, and are flanked by mature Oak trees. The beds have 4 foot wide paths between, to accomodate wheel chairs and strollers. We hope the gardens increase viewer’s awareness of plants and their uses and purpose to the environment, and that the area provides a family gathering spot and teaches respect for nature and the value of volunteerism.
